Deep Research and Model Council are becoming built-in skills in Computer. Neither feature is being removed as part of this change.
Who can access the new experience
Deep Research remains included on Pro. All plans include free usage of Deep Research.
The new experience is rolling out gradually, starting with Pro and Max subscribers on the web. Perplexity’s desktop and mobile apps will follow, so the experience may differ across your devices during the rollout.
What changes with Computer
Deep Research and Model Council appear in the same menu as your other skills. Deep Research can use Computer’s tools to browse the web, work with Connectors and skills, and run applications to create files.
You can continue working after your research is complete. For example, ask Computer to turn a report into a slide deck in the same session. For an introduction to these capabilities, see What is Computer?.
Choose the right option
- Search: Get a quick answer with sources.
- Deep Research: Create a detailed report, such as a competitor analysis or literature review.
- Model Council: Ask several AI models the same question and see where their answers agree or differ.
How to start
To choose a skill on the web:
- Open the plus (+) menu in the search bar.
- Select Deep Research or Model Council.
- Enter your request.
- Submit your request.
You can also type / in the search bar to find a skill. Choosing a skill manually is optional: describe your task to Computer, and it can select Deep Research or Model Council when appropriate.
How credit usage works
Each prompt uses your free usage first. Credits are used once your free usage runs out, or if you switch to a different model or effort level in a follow-up.
Enterprise rollout
Enterprise plans will follow the initial consumer rollout. Your organization’s administrators will be contacted before changes are made to your organization. For organization-level guidance, see Computer for Enterprise.
