If a plugin you installed is not behaving as expected, this article covers the most common causes and the fix for each. For connector sign-in and permission problems, see Troubleshooting connectors. For how plugins, connectors, and skills relate to each other, see What are plugins?.

If you don’t see Plugins in the sidebar yet, keep using Customize → Connectors and Skills. Everything there works as before.

Quick checks (try these first)

1

Connect every connector

On the Installed tab, select Reconnect next to any connector that needs it. For connectors you haven’t connected yet, open the plugin and select Connect.

2

Confirm the skill is enabled

On the Installed tab, switch to Skills and confirm the skill’s Enabled switch is on.

3

Reload

Reload Perplexity or restart the desktop or mobile app so the Plugins page re-reads your installs and connections.

The plugin is installed but shows Connect next to a connector

Installing a plugin installs its skills, but each connector still has to be connected with your own account. If the plugin has several connectors, none of them connect automatically.

1

Open the plugin from the Installed tab

2

Select Connect next to each connector that is not yet connected

Sign in to the external tool and approve the requested permissions.

3

Return to the plugin page

Each connector should now show Connected.

Perplexity Computer can use the plugin’s skills and any connected connectors in the meantime; only the unconnected connectors are unavailable.

The Installed tab shows a warning dot

A connector you connected earlier needs to be reconnected, usually because its sign-in expired or you changed your password with that provider. Find the connector on the Installed tab and select Reconnect. Reconnecting once fixes the connector everywhere it is used, including inside every plugin.

A connector shows Disabled by your organization, Unavailable, or Upgrade required

These states cannot be fixed from the plugin. The plugin stays installed and its other skills and connectors keep working.

  • Disabled by your organization: your organization’s administrator has turned this connector off. Ask your admin to enable it on Organization settings → Connectors.

  • Unavailable: the connector is not available to your account, usually because your role does not have access. Ask your admin to add one of your roles to the connector’s access list. See Role-based access control for connectors.

  • Upgrade required: your plan does not include this connector. See Which Perplexity Subscription Plan is right for you?.

A skill from a plugin stopped working

Skills installed through a plugin are managed like any other skill. Check two things on the Installed tab with the Skills switch selected:

  • The skill’s Enabled switch is on. A disabled skill stays installed but Computer does not use it.

  • The skill is still installed. Uninstalling a skill removes it everywhere, including from plugins that include it. The plugin stays installed; open the plugin page to reinstall the skill.

Skills and plugins that include skills require a plan with Perplexity Computer.

When you select a plugin with /, only its enabled skills load. Turn the skill’s Enabled switch back on to include it.

I cannot find a plugin, connector, or skill

  • Search works across all tabs. Try searching for the tool’s name rather than the plugin’s name.

  • If a connector appears dimmed with a lock icon, your organization has disabled it or your role doesn’t have access. Hover over it to see why, and ask your administrator for access. Items your organization has shared are on the Organization tab.

  • Old links to the Connectors or Skills pages redirect to the Plugins page. If a saved link opens the wrong item, search for it on the Plugins page and update your bookmark. See Where did Connectors and Skills go?.

My plugin upload was rejected or is missing connectors

  • Rejected: make sure the .zip has a plugin.json file at its root, not inside a folder, and that the manifest includes a name and a description. Check that the package is within the limits of 32 skills, 1,000 files, and 20 MB uncompressed.

  • Missing connectors: the import skips, without an error, any MCP servers beyond the limit of 15, local stdio servers, servers that need fixed headers, and server URLs with unresolved placeholders. Only remote HTTP servers are imported.

  • Upload is greyed out: if Upload plugin or Import plugin from GitHub is greyed out under Add custom, your administrator hasn’t allowed members to upload or create personal plugins and skills.

See Create or upload a custom plugin for the full requirements.

Removing a plugin did not disconnect a connector

This is expected. Uninstalling a plugin removes the plugin and the skills installed with it, unless another installed plugin uses the same skill copy. Your connectors stay connected so other plugins and sessions keep working. To disconnect a connector, open it from the Installed tab and select Disconnect. See Find, install, and remove plugins.
