Brain (Research Preview): Brain is a self-improving memory system that builds a working model of your projects, people, and files in Perplexity Computer, so Computer can act on requests that build on the work you’ve already done. Learn more about Brain.

Brain is rolling out in Research Preview to Max subscribers using Perplexity Computer, free during the preview period. It is rolling out gradually — not every Max subscriber will see it on day one. Learn more about Brain.
Brain runs in the background and builds a working model of the projects you’re driving, the people involved, the documents behind them, and the open loops still unresolved. Computer uses that context to act on requests that depend on what you’ve been working on — with every claim linked back to its source session, file, or connector.
Yes. Brain has its own toggle in Computer settings, independent of Search History in Memory. Turning Brain off stops it from writing new knowledge into Computer’s memory from your activity. Incognito sessions are always excluded.
Yes. Brain is built only from your own activity — your sessions, connected tools, artifacts, and corrections — and is used only to improve your own answers. Every entry links back to the source behind it, so you can open it, check it, and edit or delete anything in Settings → Memory. Models are not trained on what Brain writes into memory.
Perplexity Max is currently available only for consumers on a Free or Pro plan.
For Enterprise users, we recommend Enterprise Max, which has been designed for users who need enterprise-grade data security, powerful collaboration tools, and the highest level of access to the latest AI models, Create files and apps and Research search modes, Comet Assistant, and Perplexity’s newest features.
Perplexity Max costs \$200/monthly or \$2000/annually. Please note, the annual billing option is only available for the web app version.
On the web app, you can upgrade by heading to your Settings Page > Account > Subscription > Upgrade Plan
If you subscribed to the Pro plan via the web app, then please use the web app (not Perplexity's mobile apps) to upgrade to Max.
If you upgrade via mobile app, this will create a new separate Max subscription in addition to your ongoing Pro subscription.

Yes, if you’ve already subscribed via web app we will carry over your balance and bill you the prorated amount for your new subscription. Your upgrade will be effective immediately and you’ll have access to all Max features when you upgrade.
Android app upgrades: If you have an existing Pro subscription and upgrade to Max via the Android app, Google Play immediately charges the full price of the new subscription. The remaining unused time from the previous subscription is then applied to the new subscription, extending its duration.
iOS app upgrades: If you have an existing Pro subscription and upgrade to Max via the iOS app the remainder of your Pro subscription can be refunded to you. You will have to contact Apple Support with a refund request (Perplexity support does not manage app store subscriptions).
EU, UK, or Turkey customers: You are eligible for a refund if you cancel within 14 days of purchase. This applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions. In the refund request, please specify you are applying for a refund from the EU, UK, or Turkey.
South Korea or Brazil customers: You are eligible for a refund if you cancel your subscription within 7 days of purchase. This applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions. Please specify that you are applying for a refund from South Korea or Brazil in your request.
For all other customers: A refund request window of 24 hours for monthly subscriptions and 48 hours for annual subscriptions applies. If you cancel within that period, you can request a refund by contacting us via Help > Contact Support.
Please note that all other cancellations and downgrades will kick in at the end of your billing cycle. You will continue to have full access to Max features until the end of the billing period.
